An older man struggling to maintain the lawn
With 85m2 in total to manage, this gentleman found himself struggling to maintain and keep up with his fast-growing lawn which covered a great deal of his property.
It became too much of a demanding to mow this lawn and keep on top of any unwanted weeds and plants growing through for our customer, leaving his grass with dry and dead patches as well as some unsightly weeds.
So, from seeing the previous work, he sought help from us to create a new, easy to maintain and beautiful lawn.
We set out to transform his front garden by first removing the tired, old turf and any topsoil primarily using a turf cutting machine, but also by hand wherever necessary in some harder to reach areas.
Next, a geotextile membrane was fitted on top of the remaining soil to act as a substantial barrier to prevent the growth of weeds and plants through the artificial grass.
Following this, our installers laid down and compacted a layer of crushed dolomite sand onto the weed barrier to prevent any subsidence.
Finally, to complete the sub-base, a layer of our preferred granite dust was screeded down with an easi-whacker plate to create a level surface for the grass to be fitted onto.
The chosen grass for this project was the Easi-Chelsea, famed for its’ award-winning quality and authentic, realistic look. Our installers ensured the grass was cut to precision to fit around the remaining bushes and plants in this customer’s front garden.
Once laid down, and joints were sealed using joining strips and a strong adhesive glue, and the grass was brushed through with kiln-dried sand to provide some extra weight.
To complete this project, our customer opted for a border of slate stone chips to fit around his artificial grass and leave his front garden looking outstanding.
